3 Week Bathroom Completion Guarantee – Terms & Conditions
Definition – Standard Bathroom
For the purposes of these Terms & Conditions, a Standard Bathroom includes only the following:

Located within a single residential dwelling (excluding apartments, units, or townhouses with shared services)

Plastered walls only (excluding solid masonry, concrete, brick, rendered or structural walls)
-
A standard bathroom layout, with no structural alterations, wall relocations, or changes to plumbing or electrical locations

Standard PC items and tapware, including:

Toilet: standard toilet suite (non-smart), excluding bidet, electronic or automated toilet systems.

Standard tapware range
-
Toilet roll holder, towel rail and hooks
-
Mirror or shaving cabinet
-
-
Vanity: a standard, ready-made, off-the-shelf freestanding or wall-hung vanity with a standard acrylic or stone benchtop, with no custom sizing, finishes, joinery modifications or made-to-order components

Bath: standard freestanding bath (where included in the agreed scope of works)
-
Shower screen: standard size frameless or semi-frameless shower screen
- If painting is included, this component does not fall withing the 3 week completion period
Any bathroom works falling outside the above definition, including but not limited to custom, special-order or non-standard items, apartments, layout changes, structural works or variations, are excluded from the Standard Bathroom definition and any associated completion guarantees or incentives.
This completion guarantee applies to Standard Bathrooms only and is subject to and must be read in conjunction with the HIA Victorian Domestic Building Contract entered into for the works.
Timeframe Commencement
The 3-week completion timeframe commences from the first day of demolition, provided that:

Full site access has been granted

All selections, finishes and approvals are finalised
-
No variations are requested after commencement
-
All materials required for the standard scope are available
Exclusions & Delays
The completion guarantee does not apply to delays caused by:

Variations requested by the owner
-
Extensions of Time permitted under the HIA contract, including but not limited to weather events, supply chain delays, force majeure events, access issues or regulatory delays
-
Delays caused by third parties outside the builder’s reasonable control
Items excluded from the guarantee include:

Custom shower screens ordered after tiling
-
Custom or non-standard cabinetry, stone or joinery
-
Non-standard or special-order fittings or fixtures
Incentive
The $1,000 per day amount represents an agreed commercial incentive and applies only to delays attributable solely to the builder, after adjustment of the completion date for any approved Extensions of Time under the HIA contract.
This completion guarantee does not replace, override or amend the terms of the HIA contract.
