Pickleball Court
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing-sports in Australia. Many have already installed a pickleball court in their property. But what makes a great pickleball court? Can one have a backyard pickleball court installed or constructed? Can a pickleball court size be customised to fit any available space? These are the questions Cornerstone Courts can answer for you as we’ve been in the business of constructing and installing many types of courts, including pickleball courts.
Just a quick rundown of what the sport is all about. Pickleball is a paddle sport using a paddle-like rackets. It’s a fast-paced game for 2 or 4 players and is similar to tennis (it usually has 3 sets of play). Its popularity and recent resurgence can be attributed to how very easy the game can be learned and played. Plus, it doesn’t require much equipment. You just need a pickleball, pickleball paddles, and a pickleball court!
What Makes a Great Court for Pickleball?
This is an important part of the game. The court should have the right dimensions, a durable surface meant to take the stress of play, and a high-quality net.
A regulation court size for pickleball is 44 ft x 20 ft. and an allowance for the out-of-bounds area. Court surface should provide great traction and shock absorption and must be on a foundation that is durable and sturdy. Cornerstone Courts can provide that kind of surface for your pickleball games. Net should be 36” at the posts and 34” in the middle.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a pickleball court installed or constructed in your backyard!
Can You Have Backyard Pickleball Courts?
Yes, you can have your own pickleball court in your backyard if you have the space for it! The recommended court size for it is 34 ft x 64 ft. It’s the ideal size for someone who wants to build a standalone court. Of course, the court surface needs to have great traction and shock absorption as well.
Can Pickleball Courts Be Customised?
Yes! There are many ways you can customise your pickleball court. For the court surface alone, Cornerstone Courts offers you many options to fit what you have in mind. We offer a wide range of colours for the court surfaces as well. We can do a 3D rendering of the court you have in mind so you can visualise what you want.
